Liposuction Improved With Vibrations and Massage
September 19, 2006

A new type of liposuction procedure that combines power-assisted vibrations and massage therapy provides patients with enhanced results and little recovery time.

SculptEase™ was developed by Florida plastic surgeon Kenrick Spence who wanted to make the liposuction procedure quicker and more comfortable for his patients.

By placing a vibrating, power-assisted cannula—a thin vacuuming wand that suctions the fat—on top of the area of the skin where a needle injects fluid into the patient during the procedure, Spence discovered they felt no discomfort.

After two years of refining the procedure, it was confirmed that the vibration motions caused the infusion process to go quicker resulting in no pain and decreased anxiety for patients. The average time of the procedure was also reduced and patients experienced less swelling and bruising leading to a faster recovery time.

SculptEase, however, is a combination of both vibrations and massage therapy immediately after the liposuction procedure, which offers even more benefits to patients including no downtime and enhanced results.

With the refined SculptEase liposuction procedure, a massage therapist will drain the fluid in the liposuction sites rather than sending patients home with open incisions intended to allow fluids to slowly drain on their own.

“The typical patient can usually return to his or her exercise routine in two or three days and can lift heavy things within a week,” said Dr. Spence.

SculptEase also includes some small but significant improvements to the tools and equipment used in liposuction providing dramatic effects and ease of recovery.
